Good Mail – part 2

It has been a long time since I’ve done a partner swap, but I decided to play along with the Chittery-Chattery-Swappery-Swappers group on Ravelry in the Scavenger Hunt partner swap. Isn’t that a mouthful? 🙂

The guidelines: This will be a one-on-one partner swap (you’ll know who your partner is and be able to communicate with them about likes and dislikes), with each person creating a box of goodies for their partner. In addition…there will be a list of items to try and include in your box. For every item from the scavenger hunt list that you include, you’ll earn one point (items count only once). A single item may count for more than one item on the list. If the list includes “something soft, something your favorite color and something made locally” I could include locally dyed yarn that is purple.

I was partnered with Raveler Kataish (who is beyond cool and you should go check out her etsy shop and FYI, I’ve participated in her non-club before and it’s worth it!).

My package came with directions on how to open it – so I did as instructed!

C2S2 Swap
Hand carved stamps! A dachshund (so cute!!) and the caffeine molecule!!!

There is also a zombie card (to help survive a zombie apocalypse) that arrived the other day and I forgot to put it with this pile of goodies!

Kata was a great partner – and she scored all 48 points! I think she enjoyed the package I sent her as well (I scored 44 points!).

Good times, good mail – it’s been a while since such spoiling.

Good Mail – part 1

I was very excited to see the mailman stop the truck at my mailbox this week and put two packages inside!

The first package contained yarn! On Twitter, I think, is where I first found rAchel (ontheround) – she’s got a young one at home and is a spinner and knitter. Then I checked out her etsy shop – sooooo pretty! I had noticed a while back that she had a “Lorax” colorway – of course, that jumped out to me and I got in contact with her. And voila! It’s here!!
On the Round Lorax Yarn
400 yards of sock yarn… I can’t wait to knit this up. Monkeys? I could use a new pair, since my original ones died in January. Socks in Little Bee Pattern, Honeybee Socks, or Herringbone Rib are also under consideration.

I really want something seuss-y, or truffula tree-ish… I may have to go do research with some pattern books first…

Nutmeg Knitting – My Etsy Shop

A while back I spotted a post on Ravelry by Kate of – she was going to allow for knitters to purchase a cottage license, which means the knitter has permission to sell the finished product of selected patterns. I thought this was a great idea, reasonable in price, and I adore her work, so I jumped on the opportunity.

I am now an Official Licensed Seller for 4 of the Tot Toppers patterns: Cabled Tie Topper, Little Miss Muffet, Tiger Stamped, and the Checkered Square Cap.

I’ve got an etsy shop set up too.

A sample of what’s there in the shop:

Custom work is accepted happily! I’m knitting as fast as I can on my own ideas of color combos and such and I am loving getting to try out some new-to-me yarns. I have made a sale to a local friend, so yay on that! Feedback is welcome too – and of course, if you happen to be in need of a baby / toddler hat, orders are welcome as well! 🙂 Everything listed right now is ready to ship. I think this afternoon or tomorrow I’ll make the “Tot Toppers” category be the “custom order requests” or something along those lines. I’ve signed up with the EtsyFAST and EtsyKnitters teams. I hope to be able to join the EtsyBaby team as well – need a few more sales first! Wish me luck!

A few weeks back I broke out my sewing machine again, with this box bag tutorial by my side. I got such a thrill out of this little project – similar to when you are knitting a sock and you get to the weird part at the heel and then before you know it, POOF!, it’s a sock! It’s a bag! With a zipper that works!
Box Bags

I decided to make Theatreknitter one as well. The character of Little Red Riding Hood is quite special to Betsy so I went online and started searching. SewDeerlyLoved had just the right fabric (Japanese, but the shop is in the US) and I must say, I would love to shop there again. The fabric came in such a pretty little bundle!
Box Bags
It came out really cute, if I do say so myself!

In my fabric lusting searching, I also came across these great sites to share:
*Quick Piece Tiny Squares – I’m not a quilter (though I dream of it) and I don’t think I’m going to cut up teeny tiny squares, but you never know. Cute!
*5-minute Hair-kercheif – so adorable. And the Lorax is sort-of into headbands… I’ve been avoiding getting my hair cut for a while now, so I am in need of a hair-taming strategy daily.
*Kiddie Present (doll & doll quilt) – Lorax isn’t too into the baby dolls, she sticks with her puppy, but this is adorable.
*Make a quilted pendant – maybe starting small is the way to go.
*Fabricworm – fabric love.
* for etsy – love searching etsy this way.

Oh, and I can’t believe I forgot to post in the last post about how the Peep-Tini tasted – like candy! High sugar, sunny, sweet. All the things I love!

Big Bad Baby Blanket

I finished this blanket last week or just before. I bought the yarn back in May when Betsy and I went to Webs. I started it, but stopped because I got superstitious… I picked it up and put it down many times, more so towards the end of my pregnancy, but didn’t finish it before Lorelai arrived! I love it – I used blue sky organic cotton. Didn’t bother to block it. Great for tv knitting, I would make this again or even make it larger for an adult.

No more photos mom, really!

Here’s a cuter picture of her:

See the little thing in her hair? It’s a little flower clip from etsy shop PrettyinPaper (she’s changing her shop name to PrettyInPosies) – The clips stay in her hair pretty well and they are very cute!

Monday Fun

Happy Left Hander’s Day!
A bit from mental floss
Highlighting cool facts:
4 of the 5 original designers of the Macintosh computer were left-handed
1 in 4 Apollo astronauts were left-handed – 250% more than the normal level.
Most left-handers draw figures facing to the right.
There is a high tendency in twins for one to be left-handed
Stuttering and dyslexia occur more often in left-handers (particularly if they are forced to change their writing hand as a child, like King of England George VI).
Left-handers adjust more readily to seeing underwater.
Left-handers excel particularly in tennis, baseball, swimming and fencing
Left-handers usually reach puberty 4 to 5 months after right-handers

My dad’s a lefty, I’m a lefty and luckily I’ve adapted to living in a right-handed world. I like being left-handed. It’s one of those “good” different things.

I found this really cute site on etsy: IttyBittiesForYou – I’m most likely going to get this weiner dog ornament and I’m in conversations now about getting a dachshund superhero So very cute!!

I’m hooked into the LimeNViolet KnitWars – last night I went to see Shakespeare on the town Green – I brought my knitting and on my way back home all I could think of was “I can get points for knitting in public and knitting for an hour!! Excellent!”
