This is an experimental blogging day to try and push your creativity in blogging to the same level that you perhaps push your creativity in the items you create.
When in doubt, hand over the knitting to the kid. I am very interested to see how she creates a paper bag for her next project….
Edited to add, since it came up in the comments – she’s not actually knitting, though wouldn’t that be cool? She has just watched me knit since she was born. She will frequently take her sunglasses in the car and use the ends (the parts that go over your ears) and “knit” in the car.
Tiny Talk Tuesday
While in the car on our way to pick up some take-out for dinner, we spotted a police car on the side of the road with lights flashing. Two cars were stopped in front of the cruiser.
Me: Look L, there’s a police car!
L: Ooooh, somebody’s in trouble!
Me: Maybe. Maybe not – maybe there was an accident and the policeman will help them out.
L: Yeah, maybe somebody peed on the road!
I totally bit my tongue to avoid saying that the next time she had an accident on the floor that maybe I should call the police.
The Lorax has been quite verbal for the past year or so. We are getting to a point where it dawns on her dad or myself when talking with her that Holy Chickens, We are having an actual conversation with her – not just us telling her something, or her saying a few words here and there to express what she wants. She talks nonstop – usually along the lines of “Daddy, I open the door for you. Don’t forget your id and lunch. After work we go to the park. I’ll meet you there on saturday with friends. Jackson will bark at you.”
Today she really made me giggle (and pause, OMG she’s getting to be a real KID! Why does that surprise everyone, me included? She is a person, not a pet!) so I decided to participate in Tiny Talk Tuesday – I hope this will be a good way to keep track of those silly things kids say.
So, this morning the Lorax is drawing and coloring – she’s been getting pretty good writing Ls and we’re starting to see some circles, but mostly it’s scribbles and she tells me what it is. Today she shouted out to me, “Mommy, I draw a diaper!” –
What do you know? That’s not half bad!! 🙂
A quick post, totally not about knitting.
The Lorax is quickly building up her vocabulary – including “No” but she says it in a very coy way – almost with a drawl! “Noooooo”. Luckily she hasn’t quite figured out to say it in a short “No!” as in disagreeing with me (yet.) She doesn’t say “Yes” but on occasion will say “Yeah” and it has been said at appropriate times, so I think she’s starting to get the hang of that one.
So yesterday we were driving to the outlets. I wanted to stop in a store to look for new pajamas for her. Here’s how our conversation went:
Me: Lorelai, would you like to get purple pajamas?
Me: Would you like to get blue pajamas?
Me: What about red pajamas?
Me: Pink pajamas?
Me: Yellow pajamas?
Me: Green pajamas?
Me: Would you like to sleep naked?
Dan and I totally bust out laughing. Ahh, what other gems will she share? I’ll keep posting them.
And in the end, she didn’t get new pjs anyway, so if she can bust out of her pjs, she may just get her way!
