I like when I get to a point in a project when I can count a reasonable amount of rows (or inches) until the end. My current sample knit for Plymouth is like that – I have another 10 rows plus an 8″ section to finish the knitting on that project. It’s auto-pilot knitting and does move quickly, I expect that I can have the knitting done by the end of the weekend and weave in the ends next week. The Good Karma Farm Ravellenics Sweater has the body portion done, so now it’s on to the sleeves (two at a time). Do you ever feel like you start knitting faster once you settle in to a project? I do, even though I’m pretty sure my knitting speed is consistent. My socks haven’t been touched since I posted about them, but now that school is session again I’ll be able to work on them when we wait for the bus.
That’s all there is to report! Some posts are like that, you know?
I’ve started a new project, a true Ravellenics project to boot, as it needs to be done by the end of February! This cake is a new yarn from Good Karma Farm (3ply, sport-weight) that will be knit into a Beach Street Park sweater. I had some trouble getting the color right in the photo inside, so this picture is from outside in the snow waiting for the school bus, and it’s still off, but the setting is more appropriate. The yarn is gorgeous and soft, more purple-navy than it shows here. The Matryoshka Dolls are part of a magnet set that my parents brought me as a souvenir from when they went to St. Petersburg a few years ago.
Today is also a #TeamViolet Day – my niece is saying goodbye to the NG tube (yay), but to do that, she has to have a G-tube put it and an additional procedure, so she’s back in the hospital (boo). Lorelai and I went to visit a few weekends ago and had a great time. I’ve got another HeartCat in progress on my hook too.
We’re looking at another storm to dump on us tomorrow – if you’re in the path of it, stay warm!
Ravellenics – Are you participating? I thought for a moment that I would challenge myself by knitting a sweater. I have the pattern and yarn to do Elfe or Rocky Coast Cardigan. But then I returned to my senses. I just started working on a sample knit for Plymouth Yarn Co and it’s a blanket, due by the end of the games. I also have the Cody Cardi that I want to have finished before the end of the games. So, it’s looking like I’ll be WIP Dancing with both of those. I might do Sock Hockey too, from my personal sock club. I finished a pair of socks in January, but didn’t touch the personal sock club January yarn yet as I just can’t decide on a pattern.
Game On! PatPatsHats is always looking for hats (knit, crochet, or sewn), so I will also be participating in the Hat Halfpipe / Charity Curling. In March, they would like to donate 1,199 hats. Why 1,199? Read about it here.
I came across this Geek A Long project yesterday – the caffeine molecule captured my attention. I can’t stop thinking about it, and am very interested to see what other squares are created. It might be fun to make a blanket to donate to Child’s Play! I hadn’t heard of that particular charity before, but in reading their website, I like the sound of them.
